About the event

Join Disabled Hikers for a wheelchair-accessible group hike at Reinhardt Redwood Regional Park ! This park is a hidden gem of redwood forest off Redwood Road, just a few miles over the ridge from downtown Oakland.

Our group hikes are access-centered and collaborative, and we will customize the hike based on everyone’s needs. We welcome all people who are disabled, chronically ill, and/or neurodivergent, and your family, friends, and caregivers. It is required that you wear a mask.

Where: Reinhardt Redwood Regional Park, approximately 7 miles east of downtown Oakland.

Spoon Rating: 1 spoon. Wheelchair-accessible, paved path for 1 mile (2 miles out and back). There will be the option to extend the hike to natural surface up to an additional 2 miles. Total distance is up to agreement of group. Once trail transitions to natural surface, there are some storm damaged sections of trail with deep ruts. There are some rocks in trail surface, extending up to 2 inches. There may be mud on the trail.

Distance: up to 2-4 miles (paved portion is 1 mile out (2 miles out and back); additional natural surface is up to 1 mile (2 additional miles out and back); Max Grade: 8%; Typical Surface: Paved (and firm, natural surface if extend)

Amenities: There are accessible restrooms and water fountains. The park also has benches and picnic tables. There is no cell service on the trail.

Dogs: Service dogs are always welcome. Pets are discouraged for our event to reduce potential conflict and accessibility issues.
