About the event

Join Disabled Hikers for a virtual hang out! This event is free and open to anyone, anywhere who is disabled, chronically ill, neurodivergent, deaf, blind, or otherwise has lived experience of disability. We will have a few topics for discussion, and plenty of time for casual conversation and questions. Meet other people who are interested in disability justice, accessible hiking and belonging in the outdoors.

December topic: Navigating the holiday season and making space for grief

-- How do you navigate the winter holidays? What tips do you have for responding to lack of accessibility and masking, limited energy, difficult relatives, etc.? Is grief coming up for you, and what is that experience like? How do you get outside in winter?

Accessibility:  The hang out is held over Zoom. You do not have to have Zoom downloaded on your computer, but it does make joining easier. We will provide closed captions and transcription via Otter. ASL interpretation and/or CART is available by request, but we hope to provide it for all events as funding allows. You are welcome to leave your camera off if needed, and all other forms of communication are welcome, including through chat, AAC, or a support person. You can join or leave the event at any time. Please let us know if you have other access needs or questions when you register.
