We're Hiring an Executive Assistant!
Disabled Hikers is seeking an Executive Assistant. The mission of Disabled Hikers is to build disability community and justice in the outdoors, towards a vision of an outdoors culture transformed by representation, access, and justice. The Executive Assistant will work directly with the Founder and Director, Syren Nagakyrie, to provide administrative and program support. This role is a crucial component of the organization’s support structure and has the opportunity for growth as the organization grows.

Duties and Responsibilities
Program support, to include tracking and coordinating multiple project elements at a time
Organizing events
Calendar management, to include coordinating travel and speaking engagements
Creating and scheduling social media content, including writing image descriptions
Transcribing and editing audio recordings
Coordinating and editing blog posts
Conducting research, to include trail information and potential grants
Outreach and communication with community members and partners
Other administrative tasks
Compensation
Remote contract position with a minimum one year commitment
10 hours per week
$15-$20 per hour depending on experience We are open to alternative compensation arrangements for candidates with income restrictions.
Candidates must be in the United States and able to accommodate a Pacific time zone schedule for meetings. Must have availability every week.
Preference for someone who can attend in person events 1-2 times per year.
Skills and Qualifications
3+ years of experience in administrative or project support roles, paid or unpaid
Experience working with community-led organizations or nonprofits
Strong time management, organization, and communication skills. We recognize that organization and communication is different for everyone.
Ability to track, prioritize, and manage multiple projects at once.
Comfortable working in a collaborative manner, while also being able to work independently and accommodate shifting availability of Director
Comfortable with taking initiative, making suggestions, and receiving constructive feedback
Experience with disability, chronic illness, Deaf, Blind, and/or neurodivergent communities
Comfortable with discussing and navigating access needs
Familiarity with Disability Justice
Familiarity with justice, equity, diversity and inclusion
Interested in creating more accessible opportunities in the outdoors, hiking, or nature
Comfortable with or able to learn Wix, Google Workspace, Microsoft 365
Must have a personal computer with reliable access to the internet. We can discuss options if this is a barrier.
Comfortable with the spelling, grammar, and sentence structure of the English language.
BONUS: experience with developing training programs. We can discuss higher compensation for someone with this skillset.
